Raw Vegan Day 4 and 5

Well day 4 started out with a plus and then took a major downturn. Having a very difficult day today and keep telling myself it's part of the detox and the extreme change in diet and to push through, I only have 3 more promised days (I was hoping to do more, but I said at least 7). I also know that because I had some bad stomach issues in the morning, that I am low on energy. The cravings are very bad today but I didn't break, I dreamt about crackers or bread all afternoon. Had the normal breakfast and snacks, and then around 9:30, about 2.5 hours I got up, I had an unfortunate case of running to the bathroom (4 times), I think this could be from the extreme amount of raw fruit and fiber I am ingesting, also the dates and coffee I had. (I decided not to give up coffee this week as I have always drank it black, so it has no sugar or milk in it). Tomorrow no coffee to see if I feel better in the morning.

Breakfast: Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, bananas, mandarins and chia smoothie
Snack: macadamia nuts and almonds, natural fruit roll up
Lunch: Spinach salad, sprouts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, raisins, mushrooms, zucchini, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 lemon squeezed over the top
Snack: 2 mandarins, 1 kiwi, banana with peanut butter, cashew nuts, natural fruit roll up
Dinner: raw pizza: sliced zucchini topped with tomato and mushroom slices
Sauce: tomato paste blended with chopped tomato, garlic, onion, basil
Cashew "cheese:" soak cashews in water for an hour, blend in blender with 1 tablespoon oil (I used sunflower oil), chile powder, paprika, basil and parsley until it looks like ricotta cheese
Top zucchini, tomato and mushroom slices with lots of cashew cheese and sauce and eat!

Came out really nice, one zucchini made like 8 slices, ate 6, then ate the other two later in the night. Very filling and a nice change to salad!

It was a difficult day overall but proud of myself for pulling through, even did a 6k run despite the tiredness, really feel I am on an important adventure, me vs. food. I know what I am putting in my body is natural and good for you, I haven't had any sugar, flour, or unnatural fats or processed foods in four days, three more days to go.

Day 5:

Today was a big turn around again, I am finding the day very easy until about 7/7:30 when I would normally eat dinner. Then I struggle at night not to have something warm and filling as this was my normal routine.  Since my diet wasn't that bad before (I often ate salads for lunch and fruit and cereal for breakfast) it's not that different. I wasn't feeling well at all the day before and actually a bit down as I went to bed and I'll chalk that up to calorie restriction or overall change in diet. Yesterday, with the stomach illness, changed the game a bit. Today was much much better. Woke up feeling a tiny bit queasy, I think worried to get ill again, made my morning smoothie with extra banana today in order to have a bit more "whole" food in the morning.

Breakfast: 2 bananas, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, 2 cups spinach

Snack: macadamia nuts, cashews, and almonds

Lunch: Cabbage and tahini salad (similar to coleslaw)
Cut up red and white cabbage, carrot slices, 1/2 zucchini cut up, 2 radishes, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and sprouts
Dressing: Juice of one lemon mixed with Tahini and warm water, mixed well with salad

Snack: grapes, all natural fruit roll up

Dinner:
Lettuce Wraps: I'm not sure what type of lettuce I used, it was at the farmer's market, it was dark and light green and red on the tips, it had large leaves but not crispy, so perfect to use as wraps
mashed up avocado and added rock salt
cut up thin slices of carrot, celery, and broccoli
spread avocado on the lettuce, added vegetables and a heap or sprouts, spread all natural peanut butter on the other half and rolled up like a wrap. I made several of these and they were quite yummy!

Raw Food
Dessert: apple with all natural peanut butter, chocolate strawberry smoothie (strawberries, dates, cocoa powder, mandarin blended together in blender)

Much better day but I hate to admit I am missing warm food, especially in this weather! Doesn't help watching Nico munch on rice crackers with hummus either, cravings are very strong at night after I come back from a work out. Went to yoga tonight and that was a really great workout although kicked my ass and found myself on the couch for the rest of the evening after eating. Till tomorrow, 2 more days!
