Raw Vegan Day 2
For the last few days,
I've been cleansing and cleaning,
inside and out, in body and feelings......
A shower of juices, a scrubbing with nuts,a soaking in smoothies, restoring my gut......
Shiny and glowing, my skin sings a song,
eyes are bright and clear, all day long.....
Getting ready for spring, for flowers to bloom,
to dance and swirl, in every corner and room.....
Well that's not my poem, but I loved it. Today was a success! Although I am completely exhausted right now I am going to chalk that up to being a Monday and having a long, tiring day, and not to do with the new diet. Had some really interesting finds today! First of all, if you are having a questions or actually reading this blog and intrigued, found this awesome article today (among the WEALTH) of information the web about raw diets. But check out http://www.naturalnews.com/023393_food_raw_health.html
Also, on http://nutritionfacts.org, they always have the best information and videos regarding your food and your health. If you don't know that website, I strongly suggest you give it a glance. It's my food bible.
Ok day 2:
Woke up regretful it was Monday but got out of bed when my alarm went off simply to make time to make breakfast and lunch rather than running out the door with a piece of toast in hand and having to buy something for lunch.
Breakfast: (same as yesterday, not being too different here, but so yummy!)
Smoothie:
1 cup blueberries
1 cup strawberries
1 mandarin
1 banana
1 cup water
Drank this while making my lunch and snacks for the day.
Morning snack:
macadamia nuts
almond nuts
Lunch:
cabbage salad:
white and red cabbage diced up with carrot, radish, zucchini, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds
dressing: lemon juice and tahini blended with water
Afternoon Snack:
mandarin
apple
all natural fruit roll up
Later afternoon snack:
Walnut dip with green beans
Dip:
2 cups walnuts
2 tablespoons tahini
1/2 juice of one lemon
1 cup water
blend in blender, simply amazing! So much flavor, I loved this and snacked on crispy green beans with dip for a while and then my boyfriend fell in love with the dip as well.
Dinner:
Since I had the snack and then went out to do something, I got home around 9pm and wasn't too hungry, made another smoothie.
Smoothie: spinach, melon, ginger, cinnamon, banana
Great combination.
Late night snack:
more green beans and walnut dip.
Spent lots of time tonight looking up more recipes and ordered the book, Becoming Raw, by Brenda Davis, as it was recommended and comes with lots of great recipes. I definitely had some cravings today when I saw someone eating cereal, and when I was out around the city I would normally stop for a coffee and maybe a muffin, but no such luck today. I just ignored the cravings and did my best not to feel hungry, it's important to keep eating. I want to bring more fruit tomorrow for snacks and make something creative for dinner tomorrow night.
On a different note, went to a national clothing swap tonight, that was pretty cool. Had to bring 6 items of clothing and hand them in and then you can go and pick out 6 new items of clothes, had a lot of fun and love the concept! Time for bed, so sleepy. No exercise today but yoga starts tomorrow.
