It's springtime in New England! or is it?
Well officially we have entered Spring! BUT...we also still have a foot of snow outside and its barely reaching 5 degrees Celsius. Sooooo it's warmer than it was in January. I can't believe I thought 3 degree Celsius was cold in November, I hadn't seen anything yet!
We have survived winter and we actually did get used to it after a while. Playing in the snow can be fun when its not too cold outside. I've also survived winter in Boston in the suburbs with no car, so feat of strength... check! There were a many times of trying to push a stroller through the icy snow that neighbors may have heard me cursing, but at least I can say I got my exercise.
Amelia has successfully started American daycare. She's one day down but seemed pretty happy so that's a positive! I start work next week and hoping that with it the snow melts. Spring is meant to be a time of new beginnings and I find it appropriate that we are starting new journeys now too. Our house is nearly furnished, I have started a new "refinishing furniture" project, but as I usually do projects, I just jump right in without any instruction, so I can't say you'll see anything I do on Etsy anytime soon.
We've attended two rallies in Boston, the Women's March and the March for our Lives. Both were good experiences and nice to be a part of. I did comment that the March for our Lives had a great turn out and a good DJ, it would be nice if we were just there for an outdoor spring concert and not because we have the most corrupt upside down politics in the world....but at least the younger generations appear smarter. I'm blown away by the young people and their words, it's inspiring to see such a movement and excited to think that change is possible. I do not want to send my child out into school in a country where mass murders have become the new norm. We are very lucky to have citizenship in other countries if we need it. Spring=new beginnings.
I continue to feel homesick for Melbourne, missing my "family" there and other conveniences, but it's been lovely having grandparents and cousins too. Amelia has been making lots of new friends that she enjoys as have I.
We'll see what the spring holds.
