And then we got married, if only I could capture these feelings in words.
Maybe this is just a journal entry I'm publishing.
July 3rd, 2014 Herkimer, NY.
Wake up at 6am. Nico insisted we get up at 6, I really wanted to sleep until 7, but the plan was to be on the road from Herkimer to Saratoga Springs by 9am to stop at tux place on the way. We needed to print and make the programs for the wedding, that well, had some technical issues the night before and the printing wasn't ready until after 10pm and I was laying on the floor exhausted. It had been a long week. 6am alarm, 2 hours of printing, folding and gluing, some coffees and bagels and we were good to go. Pack the car with the 1000 things we had bought for the wedding including enough wine, beer and liquor for two parties. On the road. Stop at tuxedo shop, Nico's tux is way too big, almost minor melt down. Decided to wait in the car.
12:00 Arrive to Saratoga Springs, to the best. house. ever. We rented a 12 bedroom Victorian mansion for 3 days and we were pretty stoked about it. decided rooms, unpacked, saw the green pool (wait, green, what?) and left to find city hall as we needed our marriage license. Have second minor meltdown sitting on floor in lobby of house googling city hall. Shouldn't we have looked this up more than 2 days before our wedding. No one knows where it is so I storm out to find it, Saratoga isn't that big, grab Nico and start walking. Two minutes later my mom drives by....I think they're following us?
1:00 Arrive to city hall. No lines, no waiting, no problems!! We sign our sheets and take a great picture out front to remember the moment. We're officially excited now, the momentum is rising and we didn't screw it up! Walk back to the house, realize we haven't eaten since bagels at 6am and stop for sorbet ice cream cones, chat with the super hippy owner about Australia and smile. Its summer, its July 4th weekend and we're getting married. Nico's here, Chileans are here, my international crew of friends was arriving. Life was good. Off to the spa...
2:00 Spa treatments including mineral bath and massage. I fell asleep in the bath, I've never been so tired, is that supposed to happen?
3:30 Last meeting at the museum, Nico's first time seeing the museum. Hand Gerri, awesome day of coordinator, two boxes of things I have made and bought for wedding including candy bar, and a plethora of stuff to make wedding personal. Discuss set up, feel excited, return to house.
5:00 Chileans arrive from NYC, long trip. Greetings, gushes at house, lots of introductions. Sit on living room floor making 40 welcome bags. Leave house in search of food realizing that we haven't eaten since 6am (except ice cream cone). Thunder and lightning and hail storm, OK get it out of your system, the streets flood, everyone runs in the rain. The Vooris's are sitting in a restaurant staring out into the blinding rain storm when suddenly there's Nico...carrying his dad on his back...across the street. Run out in the rain to get him. They're on their way back t the tux shop. I need to go buy food for July 4th party.
8:00 lay on bed with Nico semi conscious and completely exhausted. First time alone in 2 weeks... parents enter, what are you doing? Lets go out. Find energy reserves, get off bed, change clothes, leave house for "only one."
Great night at the Circus, welcomed the international girls, long lost family and Venezuelan relatives. Its 11:30 at night and suddenly Katie appears, says shes coming on Friday morning but just pops in. Great surprise. 3-4 wines later return home, its still raining. Pass out.

July 4th Saratoga Springs, NY
Wake up early...well because that's what we do now! Fresh brueggers bagels and coffee courteous of my awesome dad, its pretty cool waking up with 25 other people! Head to nail salon with Katie, Kendra, Ciara, Teresa and mom. Pedis and Manis during the July 4th parade. There was a bunny in the parade and we waited for Santa but he didn't come. Entertaining backdrop. Run into different family members and friends on Broadway go back home, change, head to museum for dress rehearsal. (Its starting!) Meet Gerri (a little late) at museum, do run through, discover a few glitches, hope for nice weather the next day.
Walk to early dinner at Wheatfields. Awesome food, gave a speech (heartwarming?) started to hit me what was happening. Felt stressed? Not sure why, probably a mix of emotions, drank lots of wine to remain calm. Had second holy shit moment this. is. like. a. dream. Realizing in one room I had my whole family, Nico, his whole family, friends from College, friends from abroad. You know that dream where everyone you love is in the same room and you wake up and realize that won't ever happen (especially after living in 4 countries over ten years), well it was happening over and over again for me. I had to pinch myself.
5:30pm
Lots of wine and happy moments later, wait this day is still going, time for the party. Run back to house, throw food and decorations everywhere, put wine on ice, start saying hello to long lost friends. Laughing and chatting and throwing back to a different time. Everyone is arriving. My worlds are combining. I can't stop smiling.
8:30 push people out the house, drink in plastic cup, hand out sparklers (wait there is some incense in there by accident, whoops), walk to Congress Park in the dusk lighting sparklers. Feel American again, feel home, feel happy, feel everything. Watch the fireworks, find tears in my eyes, cuddle with my nephew. Head back home and leave everyone to go out dancing, I need some rest. Return to the house with my sister, have some sisterly moments, change into jammies, realize its my last single night, go downstairs for tea, find uncleaned mess from party we just had, find myself washing dishes and sighing a lot. Return to bed, I really need to sleep. I'm getting married tomorrow. I haven't slept in 2 weeks.
July 5th, 2014
At some point in the night Nico had slipped into our massive king size bed unbeknown to me. We wake up (early, why not?) and I say we can't see each other today, but we really need to practice our dance so here comes the music. Several tries later, we decide to go down for breakfast. Everyone yells, you're not supposed to see each other. So we eat our bagels looking the other way. Its beautiful out. I mean really, the sun is shining, its the best day yet. Its only 9am and we don't have to be at the salon until noon. I should go back to bed. Katie asks me what I want to do. Go in the hot tub. Me, Katie and Parker sit in the hot tub (my shoulders are burning) and drink coffee. Its pretty amazing.
12:00 Salon
We make it to the Salon on time, whoa that's a first! I'm so tired, the girl's buy champagne, I need more coffee. She starts on my hair. Now this is a long process. She does it, I don't really like it, she takes it out. I think the 3rd try is a go. I was there for two hours. On to make up. Everyone looks awesome. We finish at 3, exactly on time. Good job Fusion!
3:00 pick up sandwiches and return to house. Everyone is casual, no one is in a rush, photographer to arrive at 4:15, we're ready. We wait.
4:30 dress on, fun pictures. this is it, enjoy every moment. Its really happening. Give the girls cards and presents. Everyone loves them, earrings go on. I read my vows to practice, I cry. I'm ready.
5:00 Arrive to museum. Some car hick ups, but we get there. Missing a groomsman, but all else is well. I hear my friend Sarah singing....I have to pee. We line up. Its time, can we slow down time, its moving to fast. We're walking...
We get married.
It was awesome. I hear some people say their wedding was for their guests or they spent so much time saying hi they never danced. Well none of that happened to us. I enjoyed my meal, the speeches, the dances (haha we screwed up the first dance but it was so much fun!) and then we danced till the cows came home. I was sweaty, we did cotillon, lots of amazing music, great cupcakes, never tried the candy bar or the signature cocktails, but it was over in a flash. I wish I could bottle it up and I wish it was on tape but when I close my eyes I can still be there. We head to after party. The bus was awesome, competing songs between Camp Nazareth, Chile, Australia and England. I dance in a bar in my wedding dress. Why not? I do shots. I find an alfajore, thank god, its so good. We close the place down. Time to go home. I'm so tired. I've moved beyond tired.
July 6th
That was a sad/messy day, after a few hours of sleep, said goodbye for 5 hours too everyone I held dear and loved, then packed all the super pretty awesome things from our wedding and jammed into my Aunt's tiny car. Nico and I proceeded to talk only about the wedding for the following four hours, I'm sure my Aunt was tired by the time we got to NYC. The goodbyes were long and hard. It didn't feel real, none of that moment was real. How could it be over, how could I be saying goodbye to my parents, to my best friends, my cousins? When will we you again? We just had the best week of our lives. So many emotions.
8pm Check into the Marriott downtown, NYC
Joey, the receptionist (I only know his name as Nico became first name acquaintances with him) upgrades us to the honeymoon suite on the top floor. I.have.never.been.in.a.suite.so.big. Something made of movies. I recreate the wedding because I don't want it to be over. Bouquet in water, cake and wine next to the flowers. Nico puts on music. We take pictures, we open all our cards, we order room service. I'm floating on a cloud. I've never been this happy.
July 7th New York, NY
Wake up (early), forever now we wake up early. Repack all our belongings into wedding bag, honeymoon bag, Australia bag...why did I bring so much stuff!?! Nico's parents come over for breakfast, gasp at the suite, eat the wedding cake for breakfast. Why not?
We say goodbye to Cooper and Reese and Kendra, the in laws put us in a cab. Its happening. We're leaving. It's over. Thank you NY, thank you friends, family, new family, thank you life. I couldn't have imagined anything as beautiful as that week of my life. Nothing will ever compare.
Off to Asia...
